自己所具备的美德，可以希望别人也具有，但是不能强求别人具有；自己所没有的品德，可以规劝他人具有，却不能怪罪别人没有。因此待人宽容的人根据自己的心理来体察别人的感受，决不按照自己的情况来衡量别人。
