小智慧不及大智慧，寿命短不及寿命长。怎么知道会是这样呢？有一种早上生的菌，活不过一天，不知道白天和黑夜；寒蝉春生夏死、夏生秋死，活不过一年，不知道春秋，这就叫短寿。楚国的南方有一种大树叫“冥灵”，以五百年为春，五百年为秋；上古有“大椿”树，以八千年为春，八千年为秋，这就叫长寿。
