Everyone wants a better life: very few of us want to be better people.

Fear is such a powerful emotion for humans that when we allow it to take us over， it drives compassion right out of our hearts.

We don't even know how strong we are until we are forced to bring that hidden strength forward. In times of tragedy, of war, of necessity, people do amazing things. The human capacity for survival and renewal is awesome.
