I like to say that I'm not a politician, I'm a citizen who cares deeply about my country.
Economics is the study of how societies use scarce resources to produce valuable goods and services and distribute them among different individuals. If we think about the definitions, we find two key ideas that run through all of economics:
"The challenge of acting is to live truthfully under imaginary circumstances."
The truth is a fire that burns everything in its path.
The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little.
A good mathematician should be both rigorous and imaginative.
