月初看了盖叫天口述、由别人笔录的《粉墨春秋》,倒是解放以来谈艺术最好的书。人生—教育—伦理—艺术,再没有结合得更完满的了。从头至尾都有实例,决不是枯燥的理论。关于学习,他提出“慢就是快”,说明根基不打好,一切都筑在沙上,永久爬不上去。我觉得这一点特别值得我们深思。倘若一开始就猛冲,只求速成,临了非但一无结果,还造成不踏实的坏风气。德国人要不在整个十九世纪的前半期埋头苦干,在每一项学问中用死功夫,哪会在十九世纪末一直到今天,能在科学、考据、文学各方面放异彩?盖叫天对艺术更有深刻的体会。他说学戏必须经过一番“默”的功夫。学会了唱、念、做,不算数;还得坐下来叫自己“魂灵出窍”,就是自己分身出去,把一出戏默默的做一遍、唱一遍;同时自己细细观察,有什么缺点该怎样改,然后站起身来再做、再唱、再念。那时定会发觉刚才思想上修整很好的东西又跑了,做起来同想的完全走了样。那就得再练,再下苦功,再“默”,再做。如此反复做去,一出戏才算真正学会了,拿稳了。你看,这段话说得多透彻,把自我批评贯彻得多好!老艺人的自我批评决不放在嘴边,而是在业务中不断实践。其次,经过一再“默”练,作品必然深深的打进我们心里,与我们的思想感情完全化为一片。
