I don’t know what art is, but I know what it does.
I don’t know what I want. I am inconsistent, non-committal, passive; I like the indefinite, the boundless, and I like continual uncertainty.
Art is what you do when you don't know what to do.
It's simple, you just take something and do something to it, and then do something else.
Take an object. Do something to it. Do something else to it.
I don’t care if people like my work. I care if they feel something.
When I’m painting, I’m not thinking about anything. I’m just painting.
I can't understand why people are frightened of new ideas. I'm frightened of the old ones.
The first question I ask myself when something doesn't seem to be beautiful is why do I think it's not beautiful. And very shortly you discover that there is no reason.
The only thing that makes life possible is permanent, intolerable uncertainty; not knowing what comes next.
