I used to walk down the street like I was a star... I want people to walk around delusional about how great they can be - and then to fight so hard for it every day that the lie becomes the truth.

It is the absence of facts that frightens people: the gap you open, into which they pour their fears, fantasies, desires.

The writer must believe that what he is doing is the most important thing in the world. And he must hold to this illusion even when he knows it is not true.
It is by no means an irrational fancy that, in a future existence, we shall look upon what we think our present existence, as a dream.
