读书人要为子孙营造福祉而不是祈求福祉。严谨家规，崇尚俭朴，教导耕田读书，累积陰德，这就是营造福祉。广积土地房屋，拉拢关系争取利益，买卖功名，这就是求福祉。营造福祉的，平淡而长久；祈求福祉的，浓郁却短暂。
