欲治民，先正身；欲治民，先富民。欲治民，先治己；己欲立命，则先正其身；欲正其身，则先正己。
想治理国家，首先要先去治民。治民要先正己，做好治家的工作，把自家子弟教育好了，自己就会以身作则；只有做到先正自己，才能在治民方面起到带头作用。只有先做好自己，才能为别人带好头和榜样；只有先身体力行才能有好作用榜样示范作用。这才是真正有意义的治理国家的好方法。只有先立好自己的身才能对社会起到好的表率作用。
