The past is always changing. Every time we remember something, we alter it slightly, until eventually, our memories become stories we tell ourselves.

Memories, even your most precious ones, fade surprisingly quickly. But I don’t go along with that. The memories I value most, I don’t ever see them fading.

To write is to resist, to fight against the forces that seek to silence us, to assert our humanity in the face of dehumanization.
