古代的毛嫱、西施，虽然她们是天下的美人，但在满面怒容的时候，人家是看不出她们的美貌来的。鲁迅曾说“世间最可厌恶的事莫如一张生气的脸；世间最下流的事莫如把生气的脸摆给旁人看，这比打骂更难受”，开心的时候，几乎每个人都是慈眉善目，但最能显露一个人修养的，却是他生气的时候，即使盛怒，也不摆脸色给别人看，这是最佳的人品。
